History
Africa Yoga Federation was born from the need and necessity to have a yoga body in Africa, specifically South Africa, adhere to the minimum international standards for yoga teachers and yoga training schools. Instead of re-inventing the wheel, advice and guidance from similar existing international yoga bodies were adopted regarding the above.

Africa Yoga Federation operates in a similar manner to other yoga alliances/federations. Our standards are in accordance to accepted international minimum standards for yoga teachers and yoga training schools, as outlined by the International Yoga Federation (IYF), an umbrella body representing yoga practising people in the world.

Africa Yoga Federation s a voluntary alliance of diverse yoga organisations and individual yoga teachers, dedicated to uphold the integrity of yoga, establish international standards for yoga teachers, and provide support for yoga professionals in Africa. See Code of Conduct.
